In line with her initiatives to ensure better health in Oyo State, the wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, has promised to support initiatives to ensure succor for people living with sickle cell disease.

Mrs Ajimobi made this declaration during a courtesy visit by the Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation (SCHAF), a non-governmental organisation whose focus is to increase awareness and improve quality of care and support for sickle cell patients, to her office in Ibadan, recently.

The wife of Oyo State Governor, filled with empathy for the plight of people living and affected by sickle cell disease declared, “I know what sickle cell disease is all about. I know what it is like living with someone with the disease and what it is like working with a person with sickle cell disease. I also know what it means and how it feels losing someone with sickle cell disease.”

Mrs Ajimobi , while pledging her support to the care and support of people http://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/erectile-dysfunction/ with sickle cell disease, stated “you sincerely have my support and I can always incorporate things on sickle cell into my project because it is going to be medical in nature.”

Prof. Adeyinka Falusi who said the NGO has an antecedent of creating awareness in schools to educate youths and couples at risk on the impact of the disease, advocated for a neonatal screening centre as well as putting policies in place to improve the health of people with sickle cell disease in Oyo State.

According to Professor Falusi, building the entrepreneurial skills of sickle cell patients was important in cushioning the effect of the disease both on them and their families.

The researcher stated that the government’s support for sickle cell disease activities would go a long way in knowing the exact number of people affected by the disease, thus ensuring that appropriate interventions could be put in place to support SCD sufferers.
